“Bollywood has given me a life,” SRK on his grand sojourn in Tinsel Town

The Bollywood Badshah has completed over a quarter of century with his larger than life presence on silver screen. Shah Rukh Khan – who attracted derisions for his stammering, sounds candid when he said, “This has given me a life. This fact has been dawned upon me during the opening of RC (his production house, Red Chillies Entertainment) in the Tinsel Town".

The 52-year-old thespian who won hearts of people cutting across two generations has entered into the fizzy universe of Bollywood through an unconventional route: Telly soap ‘Fauji’ which was aired by Doordarshan. In 1992 he first made his presence felt in Hindi film industry with ‘Deewana’.

But it was ‘Baazigar’ which propelled him into the orbit of the most-sought-after A-Lister’s league. Here he played the role of anti-hero so immaculately that even the high priests in the industry can’t stop themselves from praising this new-entrant!

The seasoned actor has carved a special niche for himself with his 1995 blockbuster – ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ as an ace romantic hero in the film industry. Thereafter, there is no looking back for this average height hero. With blockbusters like, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, 'Om Shanti Om', ‘Chuck De India’, ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Rais’ he further fortified his position in Bollywood.

Shah Rukh is one of the few actors in India whose fan followings transcend national boundaries. In ‘The Ring’ SRK was seen romancing with ‘Phillauri’ diva Anushka Sharma.
